UnlimitedHand now fully compatible with the Arduino IDE

MUNICH, Germany, 08-Feb-2017 — /EPR ELECTRONIC NEWS/ — UnlimitedHand has been selected as a finalist in this year’s Wearable Technologies Innovation World Cup (WT2017). It is an occasion where the latest research and gadgets are showcased amongst global professionals active in the field of wearable technology. This will be the first time we exhibit UnlimitedHand in Europe. We hope to take this chance to spread the news of a forth coming breakthrough in Virtual Reality, one where you will find yourself touching and feeling objects from the virtual world.

Last year, technical bricolage in the field of VR peripheries has been over-shadowed by the introduction of consumer Head Mounted Displays (HMD). Yet there is dire need for elevated levels of realism amongst avid gamers. VR peripheries are being weaved together in various combinations to achieve immersive experiences that one can be content with. This year, we look to contribute to the acceleration of this trend by making our products available to a wider audience. Catch our CEO Ken Iwasaki as he gives a presentation on the prospects of a haptic-enabled Virtual Reality.

List of guest speakers and schedule of WT2017 can be accessed here:

Partnership with Arduino AtHeart
This month, Arduino has officially licensed UnlimitedHand as an atHeart product. This means that UnlimitedHand, as a open-source ready product, is fully compatible with the Arduino IDE. UnlimitedHand also complies with Arduino’s high hardware standards. Arduino, with their commitment to open-source, has reached out with their technology to muster a great force of makers and inventors. This omni-present community has no doubt supported us in many ways during the development of UnlimitedHand. By joining the program, we can now present our results back to the community. In line with the spirit of Arduino, our team of technicians has been working on software and API (UHDeviceManager) that would create a seamless hacking environment. Developers who have never experimented with haptics too, would be able to quickly jump in to building applications.

Stanley Convergent Security Solutions (Stanley CSS) has completed the security and fire system installations for Crawley Borough Council’s Town Hall and local Football Stadium.

A comprehensive CCTV system has been installed across both the six storey Town Hall located in the town centre and at Broadfield Stadium, one of the finest non-league stadiums in the country with a capacity of 4,996 and home to Crawley Town Football Club. The CCTV was installed as a crime prevention measure and to ensure the safety of Council staff and visitors to the sites. In addition, Stanley was also awarded the Fire Alarm and Voice Evacuation system contract for the Stadium.

Alan Lagden, Building Services Manager at Crawley Borough Council, researched the CCTV market extensively before deciding on Stanley to undertake the installations: “I chose Stanley because of their reputation. I have received a very good service from them and am impressed by the excellent Stanley engineer who attends our site. We wanted consistency from the outset and that included having the same engineer attend site wherever possible. He is now familiar with us and knows where he is going without us having to spend an hour showing someone around the site with each visit.

“The additional works and upgrades we have had since having the system have been undertaken by Stanley who have kept me fully appraised of all the work being done and carried it out in a professional manner, using high spec equipment. One of the most important things was that the work has not interfered with our daily business”

Stanley CSS understands the value and strength of a local service team backed by global resources, with six office locations in the UK and over 75 locations throughout North America and Europe. Stanley focuses daily on delivering exceptional and consistent operational excellence in the five customer touch points: account management, installation, service, monitoring and billing. Annotator CL-GPS Precision CameraLink Timestamp

IONETRICS, INC introduces the Annotator CL GPS CameraLink Annotator for stamping CameraLink data streams with precise GPS referenced time tags, a 32-bit frame number, and other valuable data. A modulated IRIG-B output is also generated synchronized to GPS time. In addition, the time stamp can be synchronized to a modulated IRIG-B input. The unit can also operate in a free running mode with time set by the host system over the built-in USB link.

Annotator CL-GPS Precision CameraLink Timestamp

The Annotator CL GPS is ideal for high speed cameras, spectrometers, radiometers, and other instruments with meta-data and time tagging needs. The annotation occurs in hardware and is injected directly into the CameraLink data stream. Since the annotation data is collected synchronously with the primary sensor data, there is no need for complicated post processing software. The Annotator CL GPS works with existing end user hardware and software with no modifications.

Two modes of annotation, digital and text, are supported. These can be used together or separately and can be independently disabled or enabled at user defined positions. The digital mode inserts a 32-word encoded block into the data stream. The text mode overlays text onto the data stream.

In addition to the CameraLink annotation features, the Annotator CL GPS combines the functions of CameraLink repeater, video splitter, breakout box, GPS receiver, and IRIG time code generator into one integrated peripheral. Master and slave CameraLink outputs are synchronized to exactly the same output data stream. Several flexible time code latching options are provided.

The Anncle software application is also provided so that end users can easily setup and control the Annotator CL GPS from the host system using USB. This software can run alongside end user software as a dedicated Annotator CL GPS control panel.

The Annotator CL GPS is available in a standalone enclosure or as an OEM PC board. For more information about this innovative new product, see http://www.ionetrics.com.

Completely Non-Contacting Rotary Position Sensor By Cherry Electrical Products, Inc.

Cherry’s new AN9 series dual-output rotary position sensor is electrically and physically non-contacting, making it ideal for applications where high reliability and uncertain physical tolerances are involved. Its dual output design offers an additional dimension of reliability, allowing a connected controller to diagnose potential problems in the sensing system.

cherrysensor

The sensor output is programmable, but it is available in standard output ranges from 0-45 degrees to 0-360 degrees. Its non-contacting nature means that unlimited rotations are possible. Designed for automotive and off-road environments, the sensor is also sealed to IP68 for resistance to water immersion.

The AN9 eliminates the most common cause of rotary position sensor performance problems by removing the mechanical interface between rotating shaft and sensor. In Cherry’s unique design, a rotating member mates to a separate magnetic actuator. This means that mis-alignment or changes in the shaft position will not physically impact the sensor. While potentiometric sensors may suffer from wear or dither and traditional non-contacting sensors may experience binding or jamming, the Cherry AN9 sensor is vulnerable to none of these potential failure modes.

The Hall-effect-based AN9 offers a 5vdc ratiometric output. It is suitable for a wide range of applications, including: steering wheel position sensor, shift-by-wire sensor, variable valve timing position sensor, and pedal position sensor for braking and acceleration.
